Arizona Department of Corrections - Human Resources Management
Report
The Department’s high correctional officer vacancy and turnover rate is preventing it from fully opening its newest prison and costs the State millions in overtime expenses. Despite aggressive recruitment measures, increases in job offers are less than those needed to fully staff the prison system. Faced with low salaries, the Department should continue its efforts to improve salaries and benefits for correctional officers, and improve officers’ quality of worklife.
