Wellton Elementary School District

In fiscal year 2017, Wellton Elementary School District’s (District) student passage rates on State assessments were similar to or lower than peer districts’ averages, and the District’s administrative and food service programs operated very efficiently. Efficient administrative staffing saved the District over $88,000, and efficient food service practices resulted in program revenues exceeding costs by over $13,000. However, insufficient student transportation program oversight led to increased student safety risk. Specifically, the District did not conduct random drug and alcohol tests of bus drivers and did not perform sufficient school bus preventative maintenance.
