Arizona State Board for Charter Schools (August 2003, Report No. 03-07)

Report

This audit found that the Arizona State Board for Charter Schools (Board) should adopt a more systematic approach for monitoring charter schools and following up on identified problems because its current process is not fully effective. The Board should also codify its requirements for obtaining a charter, some of which are new, and further enhance its financial reviews of existing schools. In addition, the Legislature should consider giving the Board more flexibility in disciplining charter schools.
