Communications Manager and Legislative Liaison – SIGN-ON BONUS $3,500
Starting Salary:
Full salary range: $87,000 - $115,000 (depending on experience), plus a $3,500 sign-on bonus
What You'll Do:
Oversee the implementation of internal and external communication strategies, including oversight and supervision of officewide report production and communications.
Attend legislative sessions and committee hearings, monitor and track legislative bills, and gather information regarding pending legislation and analyze the effect of pending legislation.
Draft press releases, speeches, presentations, annual reports, and respond to public records requests.
Interpret technical information to create and edit new content.
Lead communications research; develop and implement communications strategies, including related strategic planning, policies, and procedures; and monitor the progress of implemented communications strategies.
Coach, develop, and assist team members on improving communication skills.
Maintain community and agency sources and contacts and maintain relationships with a variety of stakeholders, including legislative members, public, and colleagues.
What You'll Need:
Required Bachelor’s degree in communications, English, public relations, journalism, political science or similar field.
5 years of experience in working with the Arizona legislature and the legislative process, preferred, or in journalism, media relations, public information, and/or public relations.
Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills.
Excellent analytical, research, critical thinking, time management, and verbal and written communication skills.
Make quick and independent decisions, solve problems, and work under pressure
Strong interest in public service and improving State government.
Willingness to work in-person with daily office attendance.
