The Board needs to take several steps to
improve its operations. It needs to investigate complaints in a timely manner by
improving its investigation procedures and determining whether additional
resources should be dedicated to complaint investigations. The Board should also
provide correct and adequate information to the public and should improve the
accuracy and amount of information available on its Web site. Other operational
improvements are also needed, and the Board should require its executive
director to provide regular reports to the Board on its activities. Finally, the
Board should implement better cash-handling procedures and comply with state
requirements for procurement and travel reimbursement.
