Our investigation revealed that from
January 2001 to December 2001, the Yuma County School Superintendent
authorized contracts totaling $116,500 to a business in which she had a
financial interest. The Yuma County School Superintendent allegedly violated
state laws related to conflict of interest, procurement, misuse of public
money, and filing a false document. Our findings were submitted to the
Arizona Attorney General’s Office, and on April 16, 2003, the Maricopa County
Superior Court issued a nine-count indictment against the Yuma County School
Superintendent.
